She can power a laser, but can’t be told not to lick a battery. This character would be nothing more than The Ditz , except they have one area of expertise in which no one can beat them. When that skill or talent is needed, they suddenly switch gears from airheadedness to hyper-competency. Sometimes they don’t even know that they’re doing it. Genius Ditz is closely related to Idiot Savant. An extreme form may border on The Rain Man. The main difference between those tropes and the Genius Ditz is that the Genius Ditz is merely stupid outside his field of expertise while the Idiot Savant and The Rain Man are implied to have genuine mental disorders.

Tweet What is a Topic Sentence? For writers of all levels, a key to writing that is clear and well-organized is to use topic sentences. Just what is a topic sentence? The idea expressed should follow logically from the previous sentence; in this way, topic sentences also serve to link paragraphs. You can easily build a paragraph with the material in a good topic sentence. Think of it as an alpha sentence.

It will determine what is said in the paragraph, it will confirm what came before, and it may indicate what will come next. A topic sentence often appears at the beginning of a paragraph, but can come at any point—or not at all, in the case of a skillful writer. You can create an essay or story outline with topic sentences, by listing in order the topic sentence of each paragraph.

Dating and Making Friends When You Have Adult ADHD

I prefer to focus on one thing at a time, which isn’t easy in our fast-paced multi-media world. So anything that helps me keep track of everything at once is a very good thing. I do have several friends with ADHD and I know they have a hard time finding planners that help them focus on their priorities. It seems to me the key is finding the right balance of structure without being overwhelming. I’d also love your feedback on what planners you think are helpful. Please. Break up with the guy who has cancer. Today. For his sake. Losing a girlfriend when you have cancer is rough. Having a girlfriend who’s hiding the fact that she’s screwing someone else and only wants to marry you to ‘make her job search easier’ is a lot worse.

Although the answer to this question may seem simple, it recurs with alarming regularity on aspie forums everywhere. Often, it is confused with the aspie’s ability to find a partner or the famous aspie empathy problems – these are different things altogether which I’ll hopefully discuss in follow-up posts. Emotional Behavior in Aspies Aspies are very capable of loving but they often confuse the issue by adopting an altogether too rigid view of love.

Despite popular mis-belief, aspies are generally fairly emotional beings. We have intense feelings of happiness and even more intense feelings of sadness. The smallest triggers can produce huge emotional responses in us.

Their tireless ranks defend the Forge Worlds of the Imperium, annihilate the enemies of the Tech-priests, and fight at the vanguard of the Quest for Knowledge. As the technocracy of the Cult Mechanicus extends its reach into the stars, the cybernetic Skitarii are always at the fore. Underneath their augmetic battleware, the warriors of the Skitarii Legions are still technically human, yet each has been mutilated, dismembered and extensively rebuilt to better serve the Omnissiah’s will.

Their manifold augmentation ensure not only their lethality, but also their utmost obedience.

The O’Dell Corporation has an interesting history. Started in by William O’Dell, a young marine who had just returned home from serving in World War Ii, the company’s grown to a leading supplier for Fortune corporations and family-owned businesses alike.

But ADHD can make it hard for you to pay attention or react the right way. It just takes patience, self-awareness, and practical strategies. A no-show on your own date? Many romances start intensely and cool down over time. But your ADHD brain can zap a crush too soon. When your passion fades, it can leave your love interest confused or upset.

To connect with people, you need to be able to read body signals and social situations. You might not catch the emotional meaning behind words. You might easily overlook the sarcasm, fear, or other unspoken messages. That can lead to misunderstandings and hurt feelings. Household clutter can drive a tidy roommate mad.

But the tension can go higher if your ADHD leaves you overwhelmed or anxious at the thought of tackling the mess. Your ADHD can get in the way of intimacy — the emotional bond with your partner. Studies suggest that discomfort and fear of getting close may be stronger the more serious your symptoms are.

Of course, we ADHDers like everyone else do our best to present ourselves as well-adjusted, minimally baggaged individuals. Before you know you have ADHD, you blame your dating partners who never seem to want to stick around in usually tumultuous relationships with you for very long. Post-diagnosis and armed—or so you think—with meds and coping strategies, often ADHDers continue to wonder why their love relationships continue to end.

We ADHDers know that.

By Leslie Rouder, LCSW. The challenges facing a person who is married to someone with untreated ADD can certainly be difficult to navigate, especially because these challenges may be completely hidden to the rest of the world.

Hyperfocus

When Is Hyperfocus a Problem? Sometimes your attention goes quickly from one thing to the next. Other times you can concentrate on something so hard that you lose track of everything else going on around you. Just about anyone can get lost in something that interests them. A psychologist in the early s came up with a concept called flow. You shut out the rest of the world and even lose track of time.

Focus & Attention “Mozart Helped Me Focus My ADHD Brain.” Focusing the ADHD brain can be tough, but music is a proven tool for engaging the brain and minimize distractions.

In fact that is the defining symptom for most people who are trying to understand the disease. When I was trying to convince others that my daughter should be tested for ADD, the most often objection was that she could focus when she “wanted” to, as evidenced by her utter absorption in some TV shows, movies or books. I’ve heard other parents, teachers, etc. It would be much more accurate to think of ADD as the lack of control over the effect of stimuli.

To use a mechanical analogy it would be accurate to say that ADD people have a poor attention governor, so some things are hard to focus on and other things are overly attractive. I’ve often referred to my ADD issues as “shiny object syndrome,” and that’s really not far from the truth. Shiny things things I’m interested in attract my attention and dull things things that don’t interest me are almost impossible to pay attention to for any length of time.
